Omagh Motor Club committee member Paul Barrett has been crowned Fuchs MSA British Historic Rally Champion following the cancellation of Rally Isle of Man. While the Trackrod Rally has still to take place at the end of September, Paul cannot now be caught on points.

With victories on the Pirelli Rally and the Red Kite Rally, a third place on the season opening Rally North Wales and second place on the Harry Flatters Rally, it has been a great season for Paul, though it all almost ended prematurely when his car caught fire on the startline of Stage Two on the Carlisle Stages, round three of the championship. With help from marshals, timekeepers and other crews the blaze was extinguished though not before considerable damage had been done leaving the crew with a lot to do to get the car ready for the following round.

Paul is now looking forward to the Trackrod event where he will be partnered by Gordon Noble.
